Perfect 10

I know that phone can do most things nowadays. Well to my surprise mine is (or was) capable of completing a high dive into a cup of tea. Yes. Straight from the arm of the chair to the bottom of the cup with a minimal amount of splash. No double back flips or the likes mind you. Judges impressed, me not too much. It sits outside drying out in the chance that it will survive. Chances of that are looking slim.

changing garden

The garden has grown quite a bit this year as during the spring we doubled the size. Added to which we have been tending and nurturing it this spring, knowing that we'd be around over the summer to give it the love and attention that are needed to get the best results from it. As a result the plants are coming on nicely. A few spuds coming on here.

Toms, peppers, carrots, chard, broccoli, egg plant, lettuce, radish, parsnips, beets, onions, pumpkin, zucchini, cucumbers, peas, beans and more. Already eaten a few things.

Added an addition to the balcony when my folks popped over. Will add more slats when the hops has gone in the fall- don't fancy getting shredded by it trying now. Offers up an extra bit of outdoor living. Needed at the moment as temps have climbed in the last week and think that we'll be knocking on the big 100 before too long.

Midweek Ride

Goose had the day off so we headed out for a mellow ride together before her race later in the day. I was meant to race but just didn't 'feel it'. We rode for 90 minutes out near the Flatirons - those hills in the background, just south of Boulder.
We 're having a great summer this far as not experienced the crazy heat we've had here before. Sits in the 80's most days.
I'm busy ticking jobs off a list longer than my arm.

After our ride Goose headed to the local short track race. It's basically a race round a circuit for 20 minutes. You're going as fast as you can around a circuit that's about half a mile long. Today's was a bit longer and had loads of technical kickers in it. The local university's bike club puts the race on - it's a 11 race series that runs for the whole of the summer. Thanks CU cycling for this. Goose had a great race. Got a skills clinic in the near future. That's two done for Goose and just the one for me.

More before too long, Lynx

North of the border! (well Wyoming)

Headed up to Curt Gowdy State Park, Wyoming, for the weekend. Heard great things about the area and wanted a trip to a place we'd never been before. Getting to the point where we need to go to a few new places, and I think it's fair to say that it was well worth the 90 minutes in the car up I70. Nice and quiet - on the trails. Although we felt a bit out of place driving around as nearly every vehicle with a Wyoming plate was either a Ford, a Chevy or a GMC truck. Campsite was real nice as far as location went - on the side of a lake. But a bit LOUD in the evening - must be something to do with all the trucks.

All the trails where nicely constructed and laid out

Apart from this bugger of a hiker bike. Only a 2 mile trail and must have walked about 5! Hard enough to walk it, thought of biking it just didn't appeal. Several places where you'd need a body bag, or water wings, if you rode off the trail. Sometimes it makes sense to walk!

Next day we headed across to Happy Jack, 20 minutes away from Curt Gowdy. Pre riding a race we have in July was the plan. Got a few miles in and luckily the storm stayed away. The race is about 70miles so will head back up in a few weeks to ride a bit more.

Campsite at Curt Gowdy sure was nice.

Few more weeks before I head back to work, actually a few more months! Goose is back in a couple of days!
Hope you're all having a great summer, those down south, crank that heating up!

riding Trail Ridge Road

So last week we drove up here with my folks and got turned back because of all the snow. We decided that it might be nice to ride the highest continually paved road in the States before they opened it to cars for the year. Bugger. Too late. They had opened it to cars but luckily we rode it with out too any problems. From the start to the summit is around 20 miles and it climbs from 7000ft to around 12,400ft. If you're metric - well work it out!

Great day and not too cold on the way up

Bit chilly on the way down. Great day out.

lynx's folks visit

Another year of work is done and we're having a warm summer this year after a trip down under last year. My folks came out for a week after a trip to the west coast to catch up with their grand kids. Some one didn't get the message that we wanted a warm summer. Headed up to Rocky Mountain National Park to see how much snow was still left - quite a bit! Trail Ridge Road was closed at this point as they hadn't been able to clear the snow yet. Most for over 30 years.

On the way back down the road we stopped to see some crazy x gen kid clear the road on his snowboard. Had thoughts that we'd be calling emergency services to scrape the guy off the road. Luckily not the case.

Headed to Sprague lake for our usual trip round and photo op. Had the added bonus of a moose in the middle of the lake.

Next up a trip south to The Garden of The Gods. Apparently there was talk that it would have made a good beer garden. Think I'd agree with that one.

Finished the trip to the south with a visit to the USA Olympic Center. The folks contemplating a sprint down the bobsled track!

Great to see my folks out here and looking forward to seeing them for Thanksgiving
